During the past year we have been involved with two special projects that have provided solutions to weather related pool usage problems are clients were having. We were asked to provide designs that would enable full use of the pool irrespective of weather conditions. Both opted for a centre opening building that telescoped. With special design features required they found that Arqualand were the only company that could produce a safe attractive building that could provide an open air fealing ion Summer and in Winter would have a temperature contolled environment perfect for swimming on colder days. The brief was to provide a specification for the pool building that was low-maintenance, energy-efficient and a guaranteed system that would enable the pool to be used throughout the year instead of just May to early September. Both UK pool owners have an expensive asset and that asset they wanted to be available at all hours, every day, all year. A pool enclosure must take control of the weather – wind, rain and cold. Opening on those lovely summer days and, when required, provide a warm temperature controlled environment. And most importantly guaranteeing the daily timetable. Arqualand have specialised for years in the area of public and private commercial pools providing buildings in epoxy coated aluminium, stainless steel and UV protected crystal clear polycarbonate, specifically designed for the harsh pool environment as opposed to conventional structures that needed themselves to be protected from the pool area atmosphere. These two clients provided a challenging brief. In answering that brief we were pleased to learn that our purpose built solution fixed price package represented only 20% of the cost of a pre-costed brick and mortar building. They also believed that Arqualand produced a more aesthetically pleasing result. Although clear spans of up to 30m (100ft) with no lateral ties and lengths to 100m+ are available, these projects needed 12m and 13.5m spans respectively. Arqualand has five patented epoxy coated aluminium beam sizes available ensuring our designs are recognized as amongst the most innovative and technically up to date in the world. It was important to the clients that Arqualand have received EU certification declaring that the enclosure complies with access and child safety requirements. There are security advantages too - improved safety by keeping unwanted visitors, unsupervised children and animals away from the pool. Both appreciated the unique feature in that all the side windows (6ft by 6ft) can slide up into the roof giving both access and ventilation even when the building was not telescoped open. The persuasive arguments to enclose a pool include the reduction of cleaning, chemical and general maintenance, needing the occasional wash down with a water jet. Impressively the pool building will drastically reduce heating costs by retaining water temperature instead of the pool water heating the air over their town. The enclosure is manufactured at our plant and test-assembled before free delivery to ensure perfect fit prior to on-site assembly that in these examples took 14 days. Both clients were secure in the knowledge that each completed building has a 10 year guarantee. | |
